Hock Chip Breaker

A plane's chip-breaker, or cap iron, is intended to deflect the shaving up and away from the cutting edge.  An additional function is to press against the blade at the thin cutting edge to strengthen and minimize flex and blade chatter.  Most standard chip breakers are only 0.065" to 0.070" thick, which is too thin to add much strength. 

The Hock Chip Breaker is 0.113" thick for added mass, rigidity and support for the cutting edge.  It will fit virtually all models of bench planes made by Stanley and Record and others.  The knurled cap screw is included.  Pictured plane blades are not included.
